SGS — Strike. Grapple. Submit. Practical Self-Defense
Without the Uniform, Forms or Competition Focus, SGS is the self-defense system developed by Shihan Paul Lombardi to bring together the different ranges in which a real physical confrontation can occur.
Students learn to deal with situations while standing, use effective striking, understand takedowns and grappling, control positions on the ground, recognize submissions and escapes, and develop greater situational awareness.
The training has similarities to MMA because it combines striking and grappling, but the goal is different. SGS is built around practical self-defense rather than preparing for competition.
The system draws from Paul's decades in martial arts as well as more than 25 years in law enforcement and his experience with defensive tactics. No previous martial arts experience is required.
